stock piles...

I've been hankering to get back into my making I've not had much time of late to produce works, it's all been about openings and things - so to keep me inspired and still intouch with my studio, I've just been tinkering about on my assemblage materials to be a little more organised.

When out I'm and about sourcing new materials my day is always jam packed with other stuff to do, when I get home I just plonk the bits and leave them to sort out later, sometimes, later never comes. The piles end up building into a right ole' mess, and I end up with stuff everywhere! This weekend was all about sorting things out. I operate best when things are more organised....then I noticed how kool they looked as I started sorting into similars, and had to photograph them!

And now my excess stock pile has a new system of storage - this is Glen's very first trailer for our Landscaping business Enviro Scapes we started over 10yrs ago, it's aged (rusted) so nicely and we didn't want to dump it just yet. The axel broke one evening at the end of his work day reversing into our driveway, thankfully it happened at home and not on the highway! It has fit so perfectly over my original storage pad and now I can see everything better for use.

  1. Sounds familiar! Whenever I get home with my loot it all lies about getting rustier in a corner of the courtyard. No wonder I can never find anything. Seeing these images makes me think it is time to tidy.

  3. K-I'm really impressed by your huge amount of stuff; but I cringe when I think about the untidiness of my stash. I'm sure the order lets you have a clearer view of what things can become. Go well and continue to create well - hope you get back into the 'studio' soon. B

  6. Hi Kim Congratualtions on all your achievements this year. It is been a huge one from the looks of things. I've just finished a exhibition at Pine Rivers Art Gallery which for me has taken up the last 6 months. I too am looking forward to getting back to studio and some quality time with the family. Maybe next year we can organise a catchup. Your ordered rusty bits look divine! Candyxx

  7. I have never seen such an organized stash of rusted metal.

I can't wait to see how you will use them in your art.

  8. Hi Robyn, funny I did think of you when I posted this about your story to the tip and the treasures you come home with and wondered if your piles gathered like mine.

Hi Stregata, thanks - I'm still to come up with something for the springs but they do look cool.

B - the order does help, especially with the weight the steel tends to be heavy! When stacked ontop of each other it's harder to get at. The sheetmetal place I source my materials is up for sale so I'm gathering just incase!

Hi Fiona, my hope is the order stays that way, as I have a tendency to become cluttered easily as you know. I so love the trailer conversion too!!!

Hi Jo, good advise! I will...

Hi Candy, thanks so much, it has been a big year upon reflection. Congrats on your exhibition at PR Art Gallery I would have love to have seen it. I hope it was a success for you. A catch up - I'll look forward to it, perhaps at Bunya Dreaming again? Kim x

  9. Hi Marilena, it was like Christmas when I started sorting, so many things hidden underneath I'd long forgotten about. And sparked some inspiration along the way...
