Two Group Exhibitions - Two Galleries

It can be so exhilarating and inspiring exhibiting amongst other creatives, I never cease to be amazed by the talent of other artists, for me its so inspirational I end up going into creative overload and over drive and being a live-wire for days...!  Its almost like I should go and get therapy for it.  

Two fab galleries; Studio 4 Gallery, Marcoola and Rosebed St Gallery, Eudlo (which I might add.... are two local professional galleries that nurture, support and provide us with a venue to showcase our art works and reach a wider audience) are both currently showcasing a group exhibition, that feature my ceramic assemblages, so if your in the area...

opening night & new works on display

Upon arrival to Studio 4 Gallery's latest exhibition last week you were welcomed with an ambience of intimacy lit with candlelight emulating a radiant glow over the artworks and the air was filled with a warm balmy summer breeze..... It could very well have been an intentional ambience mind you, however it wasn't. It was due to the electricity company cutting the power for some reason, unexplained and unnotified! However inconvenient, it did create a lovely ambience to the evening, and depite the suituation (which would have sent me into a spin), Directors Jennifer and Richard Stiller remained totally calm and in control, and made everyone feel welcomed and relaxed, as the nibbles were served and the wine flowed.

Thinking that was set for the evening... a large roar from the crowd was heard as the power came back on and just in time for the official opening speech.

My previous post showed "Starry Nights" and sold on the day the exhibit opened even before the official opening. Below two images are 'details' of the other two pieces made in this series (of three only).

next group exhibit

In between working towards exhibitions I like to allow myself freedom of expression to create - letting go of all preconcieved outcomes. I created a triptych earlier last year made from stump caps, barb wire rusted steel and the like and have been waiting for the right time and place to showcase them.

I was invited to participate in Studio 4 Gallery Jan/Feb group exhibition where each artist were asked to exhibit three artworks. The exhibition is being hung today with the official opening this Saturday 7th January, 2012 from 5.30pm.

finding my place...

"Journey, Places, Marks & Traces" exhibition opening night for fellow artists Fiona Dempster and Barry Smith.

I am a true admirer of both Barry and Fiona's artworks and when they come together as one exhibit it is a treat to not only the eyes but to the senses as well. It was a really hard decision to choose which piece to add to my growing art collection! Among the many... one particular piece of artwork 'was calling on me' by it's quiet presence, beauty and rusty exterior. Then seeing it's title and the first words that appear on the first page "finding my place" Oh, How so appropriate for me right now, a must have!!!

Exhibition gets a mention...

It's just been brought to my attention, my current exhibit at Studio 4 Gallery 'Deconstruction : Reconstruction ...a journey of intensity' is noted in the on-line Australian Art Collector's - What's On segment with the image of my assemble piece 'House of the Holy : Enlightened Ones', (which I suspect would be a delight for the new owners of the piece).

woodblock workshop

Artist Terry McKenna is currently exhibiting at Studio 4 Gallery - today he conducted an inspiring 'hands-on' woodblock workshop which I was fortunate to attend.

Beach dreaming...

What a gorgeous day and the opportunity of hitting the beach, via delivering my Beach themed miniature sculptures to Studio 4 Gallery - so fitting and too hard to refuse!

Literally only minutes from the gallery and short stroll on the boardwall, beyond all the shrubbery and sand dunes lies this beautiful sandy beach...

A true beachcomber from way back forms the inspiration for my miniatures titled 'Beach Dreaming'. Living close to the beach and from my beachcombing days my collection consists of many fragments of shells, fish bone, crabshell, corals etc...

Official opening

Today saw the official opening for Studio 4 Gallery hosted at the Mezze Bar, conveniently suituated right next door to the gallery! Guests delighted in greek tapas and champagne while exhibiting artist Heather Gall gave an informative talk on her children's illustrations.

Exhibition @ Studio4Gallery

Saturday afternoon saw an exhibition opening at Studio4Gallery 'Town of Seaside', Marcoola with Maleny artist Heather Gall.

Gallery directors Jennifer & Richard Stiller opened the doors to their new space early this year, and are hosting their Official Opening on the 9th September, 2010.
